Progress

I had no internet today, so of course it ticked me off at first. Then I started working on novel revisions and wrote 4670 new words, chucked 5100 old words, and reshuffled a couple of scenes. All in all, 31 pages cleaned up. It’s been a while I did so much.

Thank you Comcast.

Revision–Fragments, Johnathan

Shaking, moving, removing, and inserting new text. Fun but exhausting. I have written 6ks of new text, removed another 3Ks, moved parts of the novel, and added clues to the first 5 chapters. But . . . I’m still only up to 186 pages. The process is glacial, but part of the reason is my one and a half jobs, chores, slush reading, and my anxiety about my Nephew’s illness.

Actually, it’s my Nephew’s illness that makes me into a quivering, fear-infested meat sack. I’m scared for him; he’s only twelve. It’s so unfair.

Novel revision

I managed another nine pages, seven of which were difficult due to deletion of an entire story thread. Phew. I’m glad it’s done, but not glad that more is to follow in subsequent chapters.

New short story writing is on hold now.

Novel revision – Fragments

After much consideration, I decided to remove an entire story thread, which I used to think was a plot element but turned out to be a bunny. So bunny got evicted and it will make the novel slimmer.

Not much of a progress pagewise, but it needed to be done.

Progress report

In two weeks, a shameful 11 pages revision of Fragments. This, during the two-week work related trip to the north Florida lab where everything that could go wrong went wrong. I have not finished any of my short stories in progress either. But I’m home now, and hopefully the workload of job #1 will be less.

I’m at page 86 of 547.
